A novel expanded from the novella of the same name plus one unpublished story and the middle third of The King of the Swords, wherein Elric, Corum Jhaelen Irsei and Erekosë encounter the Vanishing Tower of Voilodion Ghagnasdiak.

The novel became Book 4 in the DAW 1977/Grafton 1986 Elric Series.
