Editor of the Saturday Review (a weekly newspaper which featured H. G. Wells and G. B. Shaw as regular contributors). A frequent patron of the Café Royale, London. Mistook Jherek Carnelian for Fromental when he met him at there.

In his conversation with Jherek he mentioned Pinker, a Literary agent; the French writers: Zola, Goncourt, Daudet, Madame Rattazzi - Lætitia Marie Wyse Bonaparte, Comtesse de Loynes - Marie Anne Detourbay; British authors Kipling and Pett Ridge.

Was also present when the Lat, the Iron Orchid, the Duke of Queens, My Lady Charlotina, and Bishop Castle all appeared at the Café Royale.
