In Moorcock's revised 2010 version of Sojan the Swordsman, Sojan's original name is given as 'Sir John de Courcy', Sojan being a corruption of 'Sir John'.
In the same revised origin Sir John is a veteran of World War Two and a combatant in the Korean War at the time of his transportation to Zylor where his adventures as "Sojan" take place.
